First Alto to Hit the Road in Australia

3 July 2015

You live or are holidaying in Australia and think you've seen an Alto on the road? This is quite possible since the first one arrived at Roma Caravans in Melbourne in June 2015. Mr. and Mrs. Phoenix, from the southern region of the Australia, had been patiently waiting for their new purchase. On their way back, they took advantage of the three-day trip to familiarize themselves with their new acquisition. This first delivery is the culmination of the work and joint efforts of Safari Condo and its Australian partner, Roma Caravans. All members of the Canada/Australia project team would like to thank the new owners of their confidence and welcome them in the Altoist extended family.

Our First Australian RV Show: a Blazing Start!

12 March 2015

The first show in Australia featuring the Alto is already over: its inaugural venture into this new market has exceeded all of Safari Condo’s expectations.  Indeed, the Alto was presented for the first time to the Australian caravan community and scored highly with both the public and the media, all quite curious about its design, ingenuity and generous fenestration. The small caravan, after crossing the oceans last December en route to Melbourne, attracted large crowds, as well as appearing in various newspaper and magazine articles, and television segments.

The Safari Condo team wishes to acknowledge the excellent work of Roma Caravans, its new partner, for the organization and management of all aspects of the Show. Indeed, Roma Caravans handled the event masterfully:  for the booth, voted by a Jury as being one of the most beautiful of the Victorian Caravan Camping & Touring Supershow; as well as the excellent promotion work done on Alto’s behalf in the days leading to the Show. Ms. Dominique Nadeau, the Safari Condo representative at the Show, would like to personally thank all visitors and media personnel who came to meet her, creating this first opportunity to showcase the Alto.

The Melbourne show concluded with the sale of three Altos, the best that the Safari Condo team could have hoped for. The company would like to thank these new owners for their confidence in this new original product and to wish them many happy travels.

The first Australian Alto will hit the roads of Australia around June/July 2015. Others will follow early September.

The Alto in Australia Official Unveiling at the Melbourne Caravan, Camping & Touring Supershow

23 January 2015

The first two Altos that left the Safari Condo Saint-Frédéric plant last December for Australia, landed at the port of Melbourne on Tuesday January 13. Members of the Roma Caravans team opened the package and reported that both had travelled very well throughout their journey, securely attached as they were to the container floor. After a 45-day trip covering some 19 000 km, both caravans made port at their new destination.

The folks at Roma Caravans will see to the fine tuning and prepare both Altos for their unveiling at the Melbourne Caravan, Camping & Touring Supershow, from February 11 to 16, 2015.

Meanwhile in Quebec, Ms. Dominique Nadeau, Production Manager at Safari Condo, involved in the Koala project from the outset, prepares for the training of the Roma Caravans team so everyone is ready for the grand unveiling. Ms. Nadeau is restless and looks forward to her first meeting with the team members of Safari Condo’s new business partner, as well as Australian caravanning and camping enthusiasts at the Show. She will be covering the entire Show to answer customers’ questions about this small futuristic-shaped aluminium caravan, which “grows” at the touch of a button.

Safari Condo extends its market to Australia

5 December 2014

For years, Safari Condo has considered the possibility of producing the Alto outside Canada under license. Several propositions had been received with this in mind, from the United States and Europe among others. For Safari Condo’s management, it was very important to share common outlook and values with their new partner.

A few months ago, Mark Palmarini of Roma Caravans, an established manufacturer in Australia since 1928, contacted Safari Condo to inquire about the possibility of building the Alto under license down under in Australia. This family business, of which Victorio Palmarini is the founder, focuses on quality and durability for its products. Its long presence in the Australian market and its excellent relationship with its customers make it an ideal partner. The Palmarinis and Nadeaus met in Quebec in last September. Then, everyone agreed that as a first step, the Alto would be manufactured in Quebec’s Safari Condo plants, to be subsequently exported to Australia for the final touch. The first two Altos to make the trip left St-Frédéric de Beauce for Melbourne on Monday November 24. They will transit through Philadelphia, board a container ship that will skirt the American coast, move through the Panama Canal and eventually cross the Pacific Ocean. Both caravans will be introduced at the Melbourne Show next February.

With this new business partnership, Safari Condo will break into a market whose economic cycle differs from our North American one. For Safari Condo, the Australian market will secure jobs and investments leading to an increase in its production capacity, with a view to better meet the very strong demand here in Canada and in the US.

Safari Condo is proud to introduce its new business partner, Roma Caravans!
